Adulthood arrives all at once — and no one ever taught the class.
An interactive keynote that turns paychecks, taxes, credit, insurance, and leases from intimidating into "oh — this makes sense." Built for college and high school students stepping into the real world.
Adulthood arrives all at once — and no one ever taught the class.
Paychecks, W-4s, APR, deductibles, escrow… a whole language people assume you already speak.
One session later, students leave organized — with the right tools already saved on their phones.
Hi, I'm LoriAnn. I've spent much of my life teaching. For years I worked as a corporate trainer for a global pharmaceutical company, helping adults make sense of complex material. I've presented in high schools across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, coached adults, taught fitness classes, and worked with students — learning, over and over, how to make complicated things feel doable.
But the spark for Adulting: Skills, Thrills, and Bills is personal. I'm the parent of three twenty-somethings, and as I watched each one step into adulthood, I realized how many silent hand-offs there are. One day someone else is handling the details; the next, they're expected to understand paychecks, taxes, insurance, leases, and credit.
I remember being 27 — married, employed — and staring at a W-4 I didn't know how to complete. I thought I must have missed that lesson, and that I was surely too old not to know what it meant. That experience never left me.
Adulting has a language people assume everyone understands. APR, deductible, FICA, escrow, withholdings — and most of us never had it translated into plain English. That's what I love to do. I take what feels intimidating and make it clear, logical, and memorable. My goal isn't to overload people with information; it's to replace confusion with clarity — so when those moments arrive, whether it's a first lease, first car, or first tax form, they'll think, "I remember this. This makes sense."
That's the heart of every talk I give.
Adulting: Skills, Thrills, and Bills helps young adults make sense of responsibilities that come fast and are rarely explained plainly. It's not a lecture or a list of definitions — it's an interactive conversation. Real examples, stories, and hands-on moments turn intimidating terms into something clear and usable.
It's practical, not theoretical. Every participant shows up with a fully charged phone, because we build their digital toolkit together — walking through real sites and tools and saving them on the spot. Students don't just hear ideas; they leave organized. Bookmarks made, resources saved, ready for the moments when they'll need them.
Read a paycheck and a W-4 · explain APR and a deductible in their own words · set up the accounts and tools they'll need · recognize common money traps · and walk away with a phone full of saved, trustworthy resources.
